Nineteen of Medvedev's twenty-one championships have been earned on hard surfaces

A comeback Daniil Medvedev won his first trophy for over two years with success over opponent Moutet in the tournament title decider.

Medvedev, a former world number one, has had a difficult season, achieving just one match at the Grand Slams and suffering a meltdown at the New York tournament.

His inconsistency on the professional circuit - and struggles with his serve in particular - resulted in him dropping out of the world's top 10 and ultimately parting ways with long-time coach Gilles Cervara.

Presently collaborating with Johansson and Rohan Goetzke, Medvedev has consistently progressed in the recent weeks - climaxing in a closely contested 7-5 4-6 6-3 victory over opponent Moutet.

It is his first championship after the Rome competition and initial on a hard court from March of 2023.

Success also indicates the Russian has won 21 championships at twenty-one distinct events.

"This marks the first occasion I'm at a competition with my two daughters simultaneously, so to get a championship is really nice," stated ranked player Daniil Medvedev.

"This championship is in honour of my younger daughter my daughter, because the maiden victory I got when my child her name was born was for her."

Medvedev, the 2021 US Open champion, had lost his previous six finals, including in the German tournament earlier this year.

The player's counter-punching play style and recurring emotional displays on the playing surface had led commentators to wonder if his skill to perform at the elite level was finished.

Yet the 29-year-old has implemented adjustments in recent weeks, attempting to approach the net and play assertively, backed up by an enhanced service.

The champion came back from a break down in the first set against the difficult Moutet, winning four of the concluding five games to take the lead.

The pair traded service breaks in the middle set before the Frenchman, bidding for his initial tour victory, seized the initiative to force a decider.

He rescued 4 early-game opportunities in a close third set before Medvedev won the break to 15 to secure the win.

Fittingly, Medvedev clinched the title with a point at the front of the court, with Moutet failing to handle a return after two hours and 38 minutes.
